ΙΟΝΙΚΟΝ ΚΡΑΤΟΣ᛫ ᛫1853᛫ The winged lion of Saint Mark walking to left, holding Book of Gospels surmounted by 7 arrows representing the 7 Ionian islands. Karamitsos I.24. KM 34. CILICIA. Zephyrion. 1st century BC. (Bronze, 21 mm, 7.73 g, 12 h). Turreted bust of Tyche right; behind, Δ. Rev. ZEΦVPIΩTΩN Tyche seated left, holding lotus-tipped scepter; two monograms to left. Levante, Zephyrion 13-27 var. (controls); SNG France 1259-60. SNG Levante 900-3. Apparently this reverse monogram not known to E. Levante. Very rare, and attractive dark patina with light green highlights. Good very fine.
