ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ / 1910 Elderly head of George I to left; below truncation, in tiny letters, Γ. ΙΑΚΩΒΙΔΗΣ; privy marks cornucopia (for the Mint Director) and torch (for the Engraver General, Henri-Auguste Patey, 1896-1930) flanking the date. Rev. ΔΡΑΧΜH Veiled Thetis, seated to left on a hippocamp swimming to right, holding, with her right hand, the shield of Achilles adorned with a facing gorgoneion, and resting her left on her waist. ASIA MINOR. Circa 5th century BC. Triobol or Hemidrachm (Silver, 10.5 mm, 1.89 g). Cow standing to right, with her head reverted to left to left. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Apparently unpublished. Same dies as CNG e277 (2012), 25 (as an uncertain Thraco-Macedonian issue). Very fine.
