Tetarteron (Gold, 17mm, 4.08 g 6), Constantinople. +IhC XIC RCX RCGNΛNTIhm Bust of Christ Pantokrator facing, with cross nimbus having a pellet in each arms, his right hand raised in benediction within his cloak and, with his open left hand, holding book of Gospels. Rev. +CωnSTAnT bASILEuS RM Crowned facing bust of Constantine IX, wearing jeweled chlamys, and holding a trefoil-tipped scepter in his right hand and a globus cruciger in his left. DOC 5b.1. A very uncommon variety. Nicely struck and centered. Extremely fine.
