ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΥΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟC Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus to left, holding spear and with shield over his shoulder. Rev. ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛΕΩC ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΠΟΛΕΩC / ΝΕΩ ΚΟ - Ρ - ΟΥ Athlete, nude and with his hair tied into a knot at the back of his head, striding left but with his head turned to the right, holding a wreath in his right hand and a palm in his left. Varbarov 1690. Some areas flatly struck but an attractive piece with an impressive portrait. Nearly extremely fine.
