CARTHAGE. c. 290-270 BC. Stater (Electrum, 18mm, 7.57 g 12). Head of Tanit to right, wearing grain wreath, triple-pendant earring and necklace of pendants. Rev. Horse standing to right. Jenkins & Lewis Group VII, 361. Rare. An attractive and sharp example. Very minor flan crack and some slight flatness, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the Escalade Collection, Switzerland, ex Numismatica Genevensis 5, 2 December 2008, 155.

This is a particularly fine emarkable example of a Carthagian electrum stater: the head of Tanit is large and well proportioned, quite comparable to those on the nearly contemporary gold trihemistaters; the horse on the reverse is also very well made.
