KINGS of MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes. 306-283 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16mm, 4.28 g 11), Ephesos, c. 301-295. Diademed head of Demetrios Poliorketes to right, with ram’s horn above his forehead. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Poseidon, nude but for wreath of reeds and a chlamys wrapped around his left arm, striding left, hurling trident from his upraised right hand; to left, monogram; to right, ivy leaf with point downwards. Newell 55. Very rare. Toned. Good very fine.
