THESSALY, Skotussa. Circa 394-367 BC. Dichalkon (Bronze, 15mm, 3.71 g 12). Head of youthful, beardless Herakles to left, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. Σ - ΚΟ /ΦΠΑ Forepart of bridled horse to right, his head slightly lowered; all within shallow circular incuse. BCD (Nomos) 1337 (same dies). Rogers 541. SNG Copenhagen 255. Very rare. Attractive green patina. Very fine.


From a European collection, formed before 2005.

This is quite a rare coin, mostly known in very poor condition. It served as a fraction to the more common silver hemidrachms bearing the same types.
