KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Plated tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 15.12 g, 12 h), Carrhae mint, c. 305-300 BC. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus Aetophoros seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; below throne, monogram; in the left field crescent and AT monogram. Price 3820. An amazingly struck plated tetradrachm of Alexander in high relief, lustrous and exquisite details . Nearly very fine.
