MACEDON. Amphipolis. Pseudo-autonomous issue, 2nd half of the 1st century AD. (Bronze, 23 mm, 5.64 g, 12 h), KAICAP CEBACTOC Roma standing facing, head left, holding scepter and parazonium. Rev. AMΦΙΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ Artemis Tauropolos, holding billowing veil, on bull advancing to right. AMNG III 70. SNG Cop. 93. SNG ANS 158. Unusual nice details for this issue. Good very fine.



This type was excluded from RPC I because the style seemed rather later and thus the editors of the RPC I suggested a date around the rule of Hadrian cf. RPC I p. 305a. The editors of RPC III didn't include the type and dated it to the Flavian period. See RPC III p.81.
