PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Ptolemy I Soter. 305-282 BC. Stater (Gold, 7.04 g 1), Kyrene, 305-304. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, with aegis tied around his neck. Rev. ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ Charioteer (Alexander the Great), holding thunderbolt and reins, standing left in a chariot car drawn by a quadriga of elephants to left; in exergue, branch with apples of the Hesperides. BMC Cyrene p. 73, 1. Naville 239. Svoronos 101 and pl. IV, 1-2. Very rare. Usual die break on the obverse and a number of minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
