CELTIC BRITAIN, Durotriges. Uninscribed. Circa 65 BC-AD 45. Stater (Silver, 17mm, 5.83 g 1), Durotrigan E, Abstract Cranborne Chase type. Deconstructed remains of a head of Apollo to right. Rev. Deconstructed remains of a disjointed horse surrounded by pellets. SCBC 366. Van Arsdell 1235-1. Lightly toned. Extremely fine.


From the Isle of Wight Hoard.

The Isle of Wight Hoard was found near Brighstone in October 2005 and immediately declared by its finders. The coins were all recorded at the British Museum and were then returned to be shared by the finders and the landowner.
