ATTICA, Athens. 136/5 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30mm, 16.81 g 12), New style, Hera..., Aristoph... and Epistr... Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos. Rev. Α-ΘΕ /ΗΡΑ / ΑΡΙ - ΣΤΟ /EΠIΣTP Owl standing facing on amphora; to left, club of Herakles downwards, with lion skin and bow in case; on amphora, Λ (= 12th month); below amphora, AN (= contractor’s initials); all within olive wreath. Thompson 339b. A lovely and well-centered example. Obverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, extremely fine.
