KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26mm, 17.17 g 12), Babylon, c. 323-318/7. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, M; below throne, ΛY. Price 3692. Flan slightly bent. Test punch on the obverse and graffitos on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.


From a European collection, formed before 2005.

The graffitos appear to read as EL in Lycian letters.
