SICILY, Selinos. Circa 440 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 23mm, 8.18 g 1). Σ-E-ΛI-NO-TI-ON Herakles standing right, holding club overhead, preparing to strike the Cretan Bull, standing right, which he holds by a horn. Rev. HYΨ-AΣ River god Hypsas standing left, holding branch and phiale from which he sacrifices over serpent-entwined altar to left; to right, selinon leaf above heron walking right. Rizzo pl. XXI, 16 = SNG Lloyd 1252 (same obverse die). Some corrosion, otherwise, about very fine.
