Switzerland, Lucerne. 1745. Medal for Merit (Silver, 49mm, 44.48 g 12), by J. Brupacher. DOMINVS ILLVMINATIO MEA Crowned and richly ornamented cartouche, bearing the arms of Lucerne, supported by two Wild Men, the one on the left standing facing, head turned to left, and holding a sword and the one on the right seated to left; below cartouche, 1745 and initials I. B Rev. LVCERNA PEDIBVS MEIS Angel flying left with wreath for Madonna and Child seated facing in clouds; all above a view of the city of Lucerne; in exergue. I.BRUPACHER. Haller 1089. Leu Medaillen 815. Wielandt 165 . A lovely, toned example, unusually nice. A few minor marks and traces of an old, ink inventory number (8.46) on the reverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
