Julius Caesar, Denarius (Silver, 18mm, 3.84 g 6), military mint traveling with Caesar in North Africa, late 48-47 BC. Diademed head of Venus to right. Rev. CAESAR Aeneas advancing left, holding palladium in his right hand and bearing Anchises on his shoulder. Babelon (Julia) 10. Crawford 458/1. Sydenham 1013. A beautiful and lightly toned example of unusually fine style. Minor graffitos in the fields, otherwise, extremely fine.
