EASTERN CELTS. 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 22mm, 7.39 g 9), imitation of Philip II of Macedon, ’Sattelkopfpferd’ Type. Celticized laureate head of Zeus to right with five prominent pellets forming his eye, nose, mouth and chin. Rev. Celtiziced horse advancing left; above, two pellets; all within incuse circle. Flesche 723-725. Lanz 629-637. Very rare in this quality. A lovely and sharply struck piece with old cabinet toning. Extremely fine.
