Lot 1264

THESSALY, Phaloria. Circa 302-286 BC. Dichalkon (Bronze, 18mm, 3.70 g 4). Head of nymph to right, wearing earring. Rev. ΦΑΛΩΡΑ - ΣΤΩΝ Wolf at bay to right. Apparently unpublished and unique. Olive-green patina. Very fine.

The wolf on this coin is immediately reminiscent of the one found on some of the later bronze issues of Argos.
