The emblem of the military junta, a private soldier standing before a Phoenix arising from the flames; in exergue, 21 ΑΠΡΙΛΙΟY / 1967 in two lines; above the exergue line on the right, E. KEΛΑΙΔΗΣ in tiny letters. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ Coat of arms of the kingdom of Greece; below, denomination, 20 / •ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ•. Karamitsos 240. KM 92. Graded by NGC "MS 67". MYSIA. Lampsakos. Circa 500-450 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.55 g, 6 h). Janiform female head, wearing a double stephane and a circular earring. Rev. Helmeted head of Athena to left within a shallow incuse square; behind, amphora. Baldwin, Electrum= de Luÿnes 2479 = SNG Paris 1125 (different dies). Of attractive late Archaic style and extremely rare with this symbol (cf. Nomos 24, 2022, 176). Good very fine.
