THESSALY, Magnetes. Later 2nd century BC. Trichalkon (Bronze, 20mm, 6.54 g 12), Leon. Laureate head of Zeus to right; behind head, in small letters, ΛΕΟΝΤΟΣ. Rev. ΜΑΓΝΗ - ΤΩΝ The centaur Chiron striding right, holding branch over his left shoulder; to right, eight-pointed star. Furtwängler, Series XVb. Rogers 337 var. (possibly the same obverse die but with the inscription off the flan). A rare variety. Dark patina. Nearly extremely fine.
