Andronicus I Comnenus, 1183-1185. Aspron Trachy (Billon, 31mm, 4.76 g 5), Constantinople. MP - ΘV Virgin Mary standing facing on dais, nimbate and wearing pallium and maphorium, holding before her nimbate head of the infant Christ facing. Rev. ANΔPONIKOC ΔECΠOTHC / IC - XC Christ, bearded and with nimbus on right and Andronicus, with forked beard on left, both standing facing; Christ wears pallium and colobium, holding book of Gospels in his left hand and with his right crowning the emperor wearing divitision and loros and holding labarum and globus cruciger. DOC 3b. SB 1985. An attractive example. Minor striking flantess, otherwise, good very fine.
