KINGS of MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28mm, 17.14 g 5), Amphipolis, struck circa 315-294. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔΡOΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, Λ above torch; under throne, kantharos. Price 468. Minor flan fault and some encrustations on reverse. Struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.
