SYRIA. Laodiceia ad Mare. Domitian, 81-96. Dupondius (Bronze, 25 mm, 12.54 g, 12 h), year ΒΛΡ = 132 = 84/5. [ΔΟΜΕΤ]ΙΑΝΩ ΚΑΙCΑΡΙ CΕΒΑCΤΩ ΓΕΡ[ΜΑΝΙΚΩ] Laureate head of Domitian to right; to left, ΒΛΡ. Rev. [ΙΟΥΛΙΕΩΝ ΤΩΝ] ΚΑΙ ΛΑΟΔΙΚΕΩΝ Turreted, veiled and draped bust of Tyche to right, between ΧΑ and monogram of ΠΑ. RPC II, 2029. A bold and attractive coin with a glossy black-green patina with earthen highlights, and a powerful albeit imaginative portrait of Domitian. Struck on a short flan, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
