EGYPT. Alexandria. Hadrian, 117-138. Drachm (Bronze, 34.00 mm, 28.68 g, 12 h), year IH = 18 = 133-134. ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙC ΤΡΑΙΑΝO - ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟC CEB Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Hadrian to right. Rev. L IH Sphinx seated left, resting right forepaw on wheel. Dattari (Savio) 1996. Geissen 1138-9. K&G 32.603. RPC III 5915. Boldly struck with dark, reddish-brown surfaces, and most attractive. Traces of very skillful cleaning, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the collection of Jean-Pierre Righetti, bought privately from Helios in 2012, but accompanied by a pre-World War II collector's ticket in French.
