PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy IV Philopator, 225-205 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 14.79 g, 11 h), Alexandria. Jugate busts to right of Serapis, laureate, bearded and draped, and Isis, crowned, diademed and draped. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with closed wings standing on thunderbolt to left, his head turned back to right, with cornucopiae at his shoulder; between eagle’s legs, ΔΙ. BMFA 2284. CPE 892. Landvatter 52-53 (O13/R- unrecorded reverse die). SNG Copenhagen 197. Svoronos 1124. A well-centered coin with an obverse of exceptionally fine Hellenistic style, very sharply struck. Some surface roughness and traces of double-striking on the reverse. Good extremely fine.
