SOUTHEAST, Pamphylia or Cilicia. Uncertain city. Circa 380-340/330. Stater (Silver, 25 mm, 10.77 g, 3 h). Three letter Pamphylian inscription Athena, helmeted and wearing long robes, standing left, holding Nike in her right hand and spear and shield with her left; to left, serpent coiled to left. Rev. Eight letter Pamphylian inscription Apollo standing left, wearing short chiton, holding a phiale in his right hand, from which he pours a libation onto a flaming altar to the left, and a long, laurel-branch-scepter with his left. Nomos 12, 2016, 108 (same dies), otherwise unpublished, save for its previous auction appearances. Very rare, attractively toned and with elegant types. Nearly extremely fine.

From a European collection, ex Spink 1012, London, 1 December 2010, 1255 and Leu Numismatics 61, 17 May 1995, 161.

Although the types of this coin are the same as found on coins from the Pamphylian mint of Side, it is missing the city's badge - the pomegranate - thus making precise identification uncertain.
