KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 14.28 g, 8 h), struck under Philip III Arrhidaios, Pella, circa 323/2-315. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠ - ΠΟΥ Nude jockey riding horse walking to right, holding long palm branch in his right hand; below horse, coiled serpent; to right, Boeotian shield. Le Rider 525 (D279/R433). SNG ANS 450. Very attractive; well-struck in high relief and lightly toned; among the best examples known. Extremely fine.
