THE DUTCH REPUBLIC, Friesland. Harlingen. 1718. Medal (Silver, 60.5 mm, 51.41 g, 12 h), engraved medal, with heavy rims, produced to honour Jan Jacobsen Huyser on his becoming Dean of the Grootschippers Guild on 2 April 1718. Three-masted sailing ship to left with four gunports on the port side and two on the stern; on the main mast, the Prinsenvlag. Rev. Den 2 April / A°. 1718 / Jan Jacobsen / Huyser. Dirks CXXI, 7, 9, 10, 11. Extremely rare, if not unique. A beautifully made, elegantly engraved and toned medal. Extremely fine.
