The reverse of this wonderful aureus of Crispina celebrates her marriage vows with Commodus in 177: the garlanded altar shown on the reverse was the one over which the vows were pledged. This coin is probably from the very first issue of coinage struck in Crispina's name, and it is by far the rarest of all her already rare gold coins.
