THRACE. Perinthus. Domitian, 81-96. Diassarion (Bronze, 26.5 mm, 10.87 g, 7 h). ΑΥΤΟΚ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ ΔΟΜΙΤ-IΑΝΟΣ ΣΕΒ ΓΕΡ Laureate head of Domitian to right. Rev. ΠΕΡΙΝ-ΘΙΩΝ Dionysos standing facing, head to left, holding kantharos with his extended right hand and long filleted thyrsos in his left; at his feet to left, lighted altar. RPC II 363. Varbanov 29. Well-struck from beautifully engraved dies, and with an attractive tan patina; one of the finest examples of this type known. Nearly extremely fine.
