TROAS. Larissa or Neandria(?). 4th century BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 7 mm, 0.21 g, 12 h). Crested Cointhian helmet left. Rev. Amphora within rectangular linear border. SNG Arikantürk 682 (Neandria?). Well centered and strongly struck. Porous, otherwise, very fine.

Similar fractions have tentatively been attributed to Neandria in Troas, based on the helmet of the obverse. However, the reverse types from Neandria consistently depict either a barley grain or a ram, not an amphora. The nearby city of Larissa, however, nearly always depicts an amphora on the reverse, thus making it a much more likely candidate for the mint responsible for these tiny fractions. The fact that there are several examples in the Arikantürk collection indicates that mint was located in this region of Asia Minor.
