Vespasian, 69-79. Dupondius (Orichalcum, 27 mm, 10.59 g, 6 h), Lugdunum (Lyon), 72. IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG COS IIII Radiate head of Vespasian to left. Rev. PAX AVG / S-C Pax standing to left, holding an olive branch in her right hand a caduceus in her left. BMC-. BN -. Cohen -. RIC - (but cf. 1191 for this reverse with a right-facing portrait; for this obverse see the coin in the Fitzwilliam illustrated as pl. 64, 1189). Apparently unpublished, and extremely rare with a left-facing portrait. With an attractive, dark green patina with red highlights. Minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
