PHILISTIA (PALESTINE). Uncertain mint. Circa 5th-4th century BC. Obol (Silver, 9.5 mm, 0.59 g, 3 h), "Athenian styled" series. Hybrid Janiform head: a bearded male human head to right linked to a dog's head to left. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing to right, head facing; behind, olive spray and crescent moon. Gitler & Tal XIV. 22Ob (same dies). Hendin 1024. Rare, only four examples were known to Gitler & Tal. Toned and with a most unusual obverse type. Crudely struck as usual, otherwise, very fine.
