IONIA. Teos. Circa 540-478 BC. Stater (Silver, 24 mm, 11.67 g). Griffin, with open mouth, seated to right on ornamental pedestal, his left forepaw raised; to right, forepart of Pegasus to right. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Balcer 97 = BMC 6 (same dies). Very rare. Nicely toned, well-struck and well-centered. Some deposits as found, otherwise, extremely fine.
