CRETE. Itanos. Circa 350-320 BC. Stater (Silver, 27 mm, 11.03 g). The seagod Glaukos, bearded and with a fishtail, holding a trident with his upraised right hand and raising his left, with which he holds a dolphin from its tail, before him; pellet on the left field. Rev. Star of eight rays within linear square; the whole within incuse square. Le Rider, Crétoises, pl. VIII, 14 (same dies). Svoronos, Numismatique 7 (same obverse die as no. 4, pl. XVIII, 24). Only two examples recorded by Svoronos. Nearly extremely fine.
