CELTIC, Central Europe - Switzerland. Helvetii. Late 2nd-early 1st century BC. Quarter Stater (Gold, 15 mm, 1.94 g, 6 h). Heavily celticized head of Apollo with curly hair to left; the head cancelled by heavy lines in the die. Rev. Celticized charioteer driving biga to right; below, triskeles running clockwise over a fallen foe. Allen, SNR 53, 127-8. Castelin -. De la Tour 9309 var. HMZ 1.15 var. (but with a less celticized head to right). An extremely rare variety. Toned. Crudely struck with some flatness and minor marks, otherwise, very fine.
