KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 17.00 g, 12 h), struck in an uncertain, probably Balkan, mint, circa 300-250. Diademed head of Alexander to right, with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated to left on throne; behind, transverse spear; in the inner left field, monogram of ΣTP above a monogram of AΓ; on throne, sickle hanged downwards. Müller 522 var (same monograms but differently positioned). Thompson -. A very rare and nicely struck example, with an Alexander head of an elegantly made, fully Hellenistic style. Minor marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
