Mark Antony and Octavia, 39 BC. Cistophoric Tetradrachm (Silver, 27.5 mm, 11.28 g, 12 h), Ephesus, summer-autumn 39. M•ANTONIVS•IMP •COS• DESIG•ITER ET•TERT• Conjoined heads of Mark Antony, wearing ivy wreath, and Octavia, draped, to right. Rev. III•VIR - R•P•C• Dionysus, holding kantharos and thyrsus, standing left on cista mystica; to left and right, two interlaced serpents with erect heads. RPC 2202. RSC 3. Sydenham 1198. Lovely old cabinet tone. About very fine.
