This medal was given to children in Nuremberg, as a memento of the Peace of 1648. In Osnabrück there has been, since 1953, a festival taking place around 25 October that commemorates the Treaty of Westphalia. This entails a procession of school children, fourth primary and above, who, while singing a specially composed song, ride hobby horses to the Town Hall, where the Mayor gives them pretzels.
