KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 17.17 g, 12 h), struck posthumously, Lampsakos, c. 280-275. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, elaborate monogram above forepart of Pegasus to left; below throne, monogram of ΚΑ. Price 1448. Very well-centered and attractive. Very minor marks and with an obverse struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, extremely fine.
