KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 14.51 g, 12 h), Amphipolis, 342/1-329/8. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠ - ΠΟΥ Young jockey, holding palm branch and reins, riding horse to right; below horse to right, Janiform male head. Le Rider 303a (this coin). SNG Berry 117 (same dies). Attractively toned. Very minor marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

From an American collection, and from the collections of the American Numismatic Society and E. T. Newell, Lanz 32, 29 April 1985, 151, and the collection of the Rev. A. Headlam, Sotheby, Wilson and Hodge, 8 May 1916, 415a. This coin had been submitted to NGC and received the grade "XF" and the certification number 2490354-003.

The pedigree of this coin almost certainly means that it has to have been found no later than in the late 19th century.
