PHRYGIA. Stectorium. Lucius Verus, 161-169. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 30 mm, 17.22 g, 5 h), struck under the magistrate Fl. Likinnianos, c. 161-162. •ΑYΤ• ΛΟYΚΙС• (sic) ΑYΡ• •ΟYΗΡΟС• Draped and cuirassed bust of Lucius Verus to right. Rev. EΠΙ ΦΛ ΛΙΚΙΝ-ΝΙΑΝΟY CΤEΚΤΟΡΗ / ΝΩΝ Zeus seated to left on a low throne, holding Nike with his extended right hand and long scepter with his left. RPC IV, 2 temporary 2165. SNG Bern 1221 (same dies. With a splendidly elegant and noble portrait of Verus and a fine, golden-tan patina; possibly the best known example of this very rare type. Somewhat rough surfaces, some flatness on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
