THESSALY. Pharsalos. Last quarter of the 5th Century BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 5.98 g, 9 h). Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet; small TH and IΠ between crest and neck guard. Rev. Φ-A-P-Σ Thessalian cavalryman on horse prancing right, wearing petasos and holding a lagobolon. Lavva 93b (V47/R53; this coin). Beautifully toned, of excellent style and with a wonderfully detailed reverse. Minor flaw on cheek., otherwise, good very fine.
