KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.26 g, 12 h), struck under Philip III, Kolophon, c. 322-319. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and long scepter with his left; in left field, fish upwards; to right, spear-head. Price 1762. A most attractive example. Extremely fine.
