SICILY. Syracuse. 466-405 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.18 g, 12 h), reverse die signed by Phrygillos, c. 415-405. Charioteer, holding goad in his right hand and the reins in left, driving galloping chariot to left; above, Nike flying right to crown the driver; in exergue, grain ear. Rev. ΣVPAKOΣION Head of Arethusa to left, her hair in a sakkos, and wearing an ampyx inscribed with ΦPY, four dolphins swimming around. Rizzo, pl. XLIII, 13 (same obverse die). SNG ANS 278 (same dies). Tudeer 53 (dies 18/32). Nicely toned. Lightly struck and with some minor bangs and marks, otherwise, good very fine.
