Drusus, son of Tiberius, died in 23. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 35mm, 27.01 g 1), Rome, struck under Tiberius, 21-22. Confronted heads of Drusus' twin sons Tiberius Gemellus and Germanicus on crossed cornuacopiae, with caduceus between. Rev. DRVSVS CAESAR TI AVG F DIVI AVG N PONT TR POT II around large S C. BMC 95 (Tiberius). Cohen 1 (Drusus). RIC 42 (Tiberius). Greenish brown patina. Well centered and struck on a broad flan. Traces of smoothing in the fields, otherwise, good very fine.

This type celebrates the birth in 19 of Tiberius Gemellus and Germanicus, twin sons of Drusus and Livilla. Germanicus died at age 5 , while Tiberius managed to survive to be named joint heir with Caligula, he was subsequently executed.
