Julius Caesar, 43 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.29 g, 3 h), Rome, struck under the quattorvir L. Flaminius Chilo. Laureate head of Julius Caesar to right. Rev. L · FLAMINIVS IIII · VIR Goddess, Venus or Pax, standing to left, holding caduceus in her right hand and long scepter in her left. Babelon (Flaminia) 2, (Julia) 44. Crawford 485/1. CRI 113. Sydenham 1089. A superb portrait of Caesar, although slightly recut and the fields smoothed, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired from Dr. Hans Nussbaum in Zürich between 1933 and January 1939.
