L. Caecilius Metellus Diadematus, 128 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18.5 mm, 3.81 g, 5 h), Rome. Helmeted head of Roma right; denomination mark behind. Rev. ROMA Pax driving galloping biga right, holding olive branch in right hand, scepter and reins in left; below, elephant’s head right, wearing bell. Babelon (Caecilia) 38. Crawford 262/1 (Anonymous). Sydenham 496 (Anonymous). Bold strike with attractive toning. Light porosity, otherwise, very fine.
