MACEDON. Thessalonica. Trajan Decius, 249-251. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 29 mm, 14.25 g, 7 h). ΑΥΤΟ ΚΑΙC ΚΥΙΝ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟC ΔEΚΙΟC Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Trajan Decius to right. Rev. ΘECCΑΛΟΝΙΚΗ ΚΟΛΩ ΜΗΤΡΟΠ Δ ΝEΩΚΟΡΟC Four prize urns each containing two palms. BMC 140 = RPC IX 142.1 = Touratsoglou 2 (same dies). The second known example and thus extremely rare. Fine style and with a dark green patina. Light green deposits, otherwise, very fine.
