SICILY. Himera. Circa 480-470 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 18.5 mm, 8.59 g, 6 h). ΗΙΜΕRΑ Cock standing to left. Rev. Crab with annulet at the center of its shell; all within shallow circular incuse. Bucetti 17. SNG ANS 159 (same dies). Westermark, Himera 52.2 (O10/R45, this coin). Lightly toned and with some luster, a most attractive coin. Some minor striking flatness, otherwise, extremely fine.

Athena, helmeted and wearing long robes, driving quadriga galloping to left; above, Nike flying right to crown Athena; below, in exergue, [heron flying to left]. Rev. ΚΑΜΑ[ΡΙΝΑ]-ΙΟΝ Bearded head of Herakles to left, wearing lion's skin headdress. Westermark & Jenkins 142.43 (this coin). SNG ANS. Toned and clear. Somewhat rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.

SICILY. Katane. Circa 461-450 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.30 g, 6 h). The river god Amenanos, portrayed as a bearded man-headed bull swimming to right; above, branch; below, fish swimming to right (probably a grey mullet). Rev. ΚΑΤΑΝΕ Nike alighting to left, holding ribbons in her right hand. Cf. Randazzo 54 ff. (O54/R---). Elegant, well-struck from new dies and very attractively toned. Struck from a hitherto unknown reverse die. Very rare. Extremely fine.
